OMAHA, Neb. — The Omaha Supernovas have officially named Thomas Robson Associate Head Coach, a move that further solidifies the team’s 2027 coaching staff.
In this expanded role, Robson will work closely with Head Coach Chris McGown to help lead the team’s training, preparation, and overall development. He will continue to serve as a key voice within the Supernovas’ leadership team, helping shape the franchise’s competitive approach and strengthen the culture and standards that guide the organization.
Robson’s appointment continues the evolution of an Omaha coaching staff built on high-level experience across the Olympic, professional and collegiate levels. Led by McGown, the 2027 staff includes Robson, assistant coach and former Brazil Olympian Cilene Drewnick and newly hired Director of Volleyball Operations Gina Prososki.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue growing with the Supernovas organization,” said Robson. “I’m excited to support Chris, our staff, and our athletes as we continue building something special in Omaha alongside the incredible NovasNation fan base.”
"The elevation of Thomas to the role of Associate Head Coach reflects the history of his commitment to the organization and the value he's brought to his various roles,” said Supernovas Head Coach Chris McGown. “In our short time working together, I've seen how passionate he is about all things Supernovas: our players, our staff, and especially our community here in Omaha. I'm looking forward to continuing to work closely with him in our drive to win championships."
Robson has played an instrumental role in the Supernovas’ on-court success since the franchise’s inaugural season, including serving as interim head coach for the final stretch of the 2026 campaign. Robson, who’s signed with the franchise through the 2028 season, guided the Supernovas to a postseason berth that Omaha clinched in its 2026 home finale.
In the MLV Semifinals, the fourth-seeded Supernovas upset the No. 1-seeded Indy Ignite in a five-set thriller, sending Omaha to its second MLV Championship appearance in three seasons. Omaha faced the Dallas Pulse in the MLV Championship, where the Supernovas overcame the loss of starting middle blocker Janice Leao to an injury in the opening set before ultimately falling in five sets to finish as MLV Runner-Up.
Robson’s impact in Omaha extends back to the franchise’s inaugural season in 2024, when he helped the Supernovas capture the first MLV Championship. He followed that championship run by helping guide a retooled roster to the 2025 MLV Regular Season title.
Before joining the Supernovas, Robson began his coaching career in the NAIA ranks as an assistant at Viterbo University. During his four seasons with the program, Viterbo compiled an 89-19 overall record and made two appearances in the NAIA national semifinals. Robson also helped develop nine All-Americans and three regional Players of the Year.
Robson later joined Head Coach Kelly Sheffield and the Wisconsin volleyball program as a volunteer assistant for the 2022 season. He helped the Badgers secure their fourth consecutive Big Ten championship and finish the season with a 28-4 record. Wisconsin advanced to the NCAA Regional Final before falling to Pittsburgh in five sets.
