What to Know About MLV & 2027 Free Agency

  • The 2027 MLV Free Agency period will open at 10 a.m. CDT on Wednesday, May 27, allowing teams to officially sign and announce players to their 2027 roster. 

  • There will be 12 teams competing in the 2027 Major League Volleyball Season: 

    • Atlanta Vibe
    • Columbus Fury
    • Dallas Pulse (2026 Champ)
    • MLV DC (Expansion for '27)
    • Grand Rapids Rise
    • Indy Ignite
    • MLV LA (Expansion for '27)
    • MLV Minnesota (Expansion for '27)
    • MLV NorCal (Expansion for '27)
    • Omaha Supernovas (2024 Champ)
    • Orlando Valkyries (2025 Champ)
    • TBD
  • Each team is allowed a maximum of 16 players and a minimum of 12 on their active roster. There is no requirement to carry college draftees. 

  • The 2027 season will begin during the first full week of January and conclude with the MLV Championship on the first weekend of May. The number of matches will be announced at a later date. 

  • Yes. Each team is subject to salary cap and must be cap compliant by the active roster deadline, which is two days prior to the team’s first match of the 2027 season.

  • All MLV teams are permitted to sign players to either one- or two-year contracts. 

  • Each team is allowed to have up to four foreign players, an increase from three in 2026. Players from Puerto Rico do not count towards that limit. 

  • No. All contracts are contingent upon the player making the active roster after training camp, and the same rule applies to all drafted college players.
