PRO VOLLEYBALL STATISTICS GUIDE AND DEFINITIONS

Statistics in Pro Volleyball Federation mirror some of what is seen in both the international and United States collegiate game. Below is a guide to educate and/or refresh volleyball fans on stats for some of the top performances in pro volleyball!

Kill Percentage

Total number of kills divided by the total number of hitting attempts

Total Assists

Set which leads directly to a kill by an attacker. The total number of assists divided by the total number of sets played determines average assists per set

Hitting Efficiency

Kills minus hitting errors divided by the total number of hitting attempts

Opponent Hitting Efficiency

Kills minus hitting errors divided by the total number of hitting attempts.

Passing Efficiency

Perfect (positive passes) minus errors (negative passes) divided by attempts determine passing efficiency.

Service Aces

A served ball resulting directly in a point for the serving team.

Serving Efficiency

The number of aces minus errors divided by total number of serving attempts.

Total Kills

An attack that results in an immediate point.  The total number of kills divided by the total number of sets played determines kills per set.

Total Blocks

A block resulting in directly scoring a point.  The total number of blocks divided by the total sets played determines blocks per set.  Only one person will be credited with the block.

Total Digs

A dig is earned when a defensive player successfully passes a ball that has been attacked by the opponent or after a block touch.  The total number of digs is divided by the total sets played determines the digs per set.

Total Points

Points are earned by adding kills, service aces and blocks.  Adding those three skills and dividing that number by the total number of sets played determines the points per set.
