FISHERS, Ind. (October 2, 2026) – Elena Scott struck gold with the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team. The Indy Ignite libero shined in her first international competition, helping the Americans post a perfect 7-0 record in winning the NORCECA Final Six at Zinacantepec, Mexico.

The U.S. dominated the tournament, dropping just four sets across seven matches played in seven straight days, never being forced to a fifth set. Team USA capped the impressive performance Sunday with a sweep of host Mexico for the championship.

Scott, meanwhile, was impressive in her own right – nothing new for Ignite fans who’ve witnessed her play the past two seasons. She totaled 72 digs over the five matches she played, averaging four digs per set.

She turned in an amazing performance in the round-robin match against Mexico. Facing off against the home team in front of a raucous, partisan crowd of 4,000, the U.S. rallied to win after losing the opening set. Scott’s defense helped spearhead the victory. She racked up a stellar 28 digs (seven per set) and fielded 36 service receptions.

“It was insane!” Scott said of that experience. “When we played Mexico that first time, it was the 8 p.m. match and all the fans had been waiting all day for that match. It was so loud and it was really cool to be able to play in that. The fans are cheering against you, so it kind of gives you a little something to play for. It was just really awesome to be able to play in that environment.”

Having the opportunity to represent her country has been something Scott’s dreamed about. Now that dream is reality.

“It was an extraordinary experience getting to compete internationally and in a new environment that I'm not used to,” she said. “Obviously, it's super cool to be able to represent Team USA and we won, so it was all great.

“It's the first gold medal I've ever won, so that was really special,” she added. “Something the team emphasized is that winning is hard, no matter what. Especially in long tournaments like that, where you can give excuses for what went wrong or you weren't feeling great or something like that. I think we really prided ourselves on the fact that winning the gold medal is not easy and we were able to do it.”

Now that she’s had a taste of international volleyball action at the top level, Scott is leaving the door open to more of it in the future.

“It's something that I can sort of build off of,” she concluded. “Having that experience under my belt is really good for my career moving forward, so we'll see where it will go from here.”
