WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sept. 17, 2026): DC Flight revealed its full brand identity today and named The Anthem its home court for the 2027 Major League Volleyball season. The club made both announcements at its inaugural press conference inside The Anthem, where all 13 home matches will be played when play begins in January 2027.
DC Flight is the first professional volleyball team to call the District home and the city’s fourth professional women’s sports team. Its inaugural merchandise collection is available now at https://shopdcflightvb.com
“Volleyball is taking off, and women are leading the way,” said Jason Levien, Chairman of All United Sports and Entertainment and Principal Managing Owner of DC Flight with Steve Kaplan. “Collegiate matches are setting attendance records. Youth players are taking the court in historic numbers. Washington is ready for a professional team of its own, and today DC Flight takes off.”
A Brand Built for Motion
The DC Flight identity draws on Washington’s deep ties to the history of air and space travel. The arc of the logo traces the path of a volleyball in play and the athletes who send it there, a symbol of constant momentum for the sport and the club. The wordmark’s sharp angles and forward tilt signal precision and performance. The palette blends red and blue into a rich DC Flight purple that stands for feminine strength, paired with metallic gray for mechanical and physical power.
“Our brand took shape with our athletes in mind,” said Kate Greenberg, DC Flight President. “Every element is built for motion. We are grounded in the city we represent, and we are ready to take professional volleyball to new heights at The Anthem, where every seat puts fans close to the court and every match will feel like a home game.”
Head Coach Deitre Collins-Parker joined Greenberg on stage with five members of the club: Rhamat Alhassan, Rainelle Jones, Jaelyn Hodge, Danica Markovic and Birdie Hendrickson.
A Home Court Like No Other
DC Flight will lay its court directly on The Anthem’s concert floor, surrounding the action with fans from courtside to the upper levels. The volleyball configuration seats approximately 3,000 fans, giving DC Flight a true home court advantage in a space of its own on the Southwest Waterfront.
“When we built The Anthem almost 10 years ago, we designed the space to be transformative, to feel just right whether you’re at a punk, country, or hip hop show with 6,000 other standing fans, or enjoying a seated symphony, book talk, or comedy show with 3,200 others,” said Donna Westmoreland, Chief Operating Officer of I.M.P., the independent promoter that owns The Anthem. “That’s how we’ve hosted thousands of events featuring pop stars and presidents, and, now, world class athletes. We’re absolutely thrilled to be home to DC Flight and their fans. It’s an incredible honor.”
Growing the Game in the DMV
Volleyball is the most popular team sport for high school girls in the United States, and the D.C. region is home to 1 million youth players. DC Flight’s inaugural merchandise collection was designed with those players in mind and made to be worn by the whole family.
Launch week took the club into the community. Coaches and players joined youth clinics with Metro Volleyball Club at Georgetown Day School, met with members of the D.C. Council at the John A. Wilson Building, and attended collegiate matches at Howard University and Georgetown University.
DC Flight is one of five expansion or returning teams that did not play this past season that will join Major League Volleyball in 2027, bringing the league to 12 teams. The franchise is projected to create more than 50 jobs with hopes to bring MLV All-Star Weekend and the MLV Championship to the District as well.
