MLV DC Adds Talent to Volleyball Operations Leadership Ahead of Inaugural Season

Preparation heightens as the franchise extends its commitment to championship-caliber leadership with appointments of a General Manager and Assistant Coaches 

Major League Volleyball DC announces new appointments to its volleyball operations leadership as the expansion franchise prepares to take the court in Washington, D.C. for the 2027 professional volleyball season. 

MLV DC has named Noel Carpio and Fiona Fonoti as assistant coaches reporting to Head Coach Deitre Collins-Parker, one of the most decorated figures in American volleyball. The strength and compatibility of the coaching staff signals the franchise intends to compete with a championship-mentality from its first serve. 

Carpio joins MLV DC with more than a decade of elite volleyball coaching experience and reputation as one of the foremost data-driven analysts in the sportMost recently, he served as Assistant Coach and Technical & Performance Analyst for the Columbus Fury after a season as Offensive Coordinator for the San Diego Mojo, where he also directed scouting efforts. Carpio maintains active coaching responsibly with USA Volleyball, currently serving in a coach support role with the U.S. Women's National Team.  In 2025, he served as Performance Analyst for the U17 Girls and Boys National Teams, helping the Girls team capture the Continental Cup as both squads qualified for the FIVB World Championships. Carpio’s collegiate coaching experience includes stints with Georgetown, Oral Roberts, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Creighton, where he helped the Bluejays to consecutive BIG EAST regular-season titles and the 2018 BIG EAST Tournament Championship.  

Fonoti boasts one of the most accomplished playing careers in collegiate volleyball, along with a proven ability to develop talent at the highest levels of the sport. A national champion at the University of Nebraska in 1995, she earned All-America honors three times as a setter and was named Big 12 Conference Player of the Year and Nebraska Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 1998. She remains Nebraska's all-time leader in single season assists and ranks second in career assists. As a coach, Fonoti has been an in-demand assistant in the Power 4 with stops at Iowa State, West Virginia, Kansas State and Ohio State, building deep expertise in player development.

Underpinning the bench strength of the coaching staff, Hajj Turner assumes the role of General Manager, Personnel and Operations to establish the operational backbone of the sporting operation. Having worked alongside the ownership group from the earliest stages of its pursuit of an MLV club, Turner directs his attention to assembling the resources that will deliver a best-in-class athlete experience befitting a major league franchise. Turner brings deep personnel experience from across the All United Sports and Entertainment family and beyond, most recently serving as Director of Player Personnel for the Brisbane Bullets of the Australia National Basketball League and as Director of Sports Business Development for D.C. United. A former NCAA student-athlete at the University of Louisville, Turner spent 14 years as a college basketball assistant and associate head coach at the University of Vermont and George Washington University.
