SAINT PAUL, Minn. — MLV Minnesota General Manager and Head Coach Pedro Mendes today announced the signing of setter Emery Herman for the 2027 season.
Herman most recently helped lead Esquimo Dos Hermanas to the 2026 Iberdrola League and Copa de la Reina titles, marking the first championships in club history. Herman was named Best Setter of the tournament.
“Emery is a young, talented player, but she already has a calm presence that really stands out,” said Mendes. “That's a critical quality for a setter, especially when making decisions under pressure. I love the way she runs her offense. She plays with confidence, creativity, and personality; those are qualities you can't coach. I believe she'll elevate everyone in our gym and have a tremendous impact on our team.”
Prior to her professional career, Herman was a standout setter for the University of Arizona (2020-22) before transferring to Colorado State University (2023-24). As a freshman at Arizona, she finished second in the Pac-12 in assists. Herman led the team in assists and assists per set during both her sophomore and junior seasons. She became the sixth-fastest player in program history to reach 1,000 career assists, doing so during her sophomore season.
At Colorado State, she was named the 2023 Mountain West Newcomer of the Year. In 2024, she was selected as the Mountain West Tournament MVP. She was named to the Mountain West All-Conference Team and the All-Tournament Team in 2023 and 2024.
“I love what is being built in Minnesota,” said Herman. “As a setter, it’s exciting to think about playing with such great talent around me. I can’t wait to get started.”
A native of Georgetown, Texas, Herman played for Georgetown High School, where she was an All-State selection in 2018 and a two-time All-District selection. She was ranked as the No. 68 recruit nationally by Prep Volleyball.
