SAINT PAUL, Minn. — MLV Minnesota will be well represented by four players in the 2026 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) this summer: opposite hitters Stephanie Samedy (USA) and Airi Miyabe (Japan), setter Quinn Pelland (Canada), and middle blocker Marie Schölzel (Germany).
The VNL is the premier annual international competition featuring the world’s top national volleyball teams. Started in 2018, the global tournament features 18 teams, helps determine world rankings, and serves as preparation for the World Championships and the Olympics.
“Representing your country is one of the greatest honors in sports, and we couldn’t be prouder of Steph, Airi, Quinn, and Marie for earning that opportunity,” said Head Coach and General Manager Pedro Mendes. “The VNL showcases the best volleyball players in the world, and their selection reflects the level of talent, professionalism, and competitiveness they bring to our organization. Having four athletes competing on this stage is a testament to the caliber of players we are building around in Minnesota. It is an exciting moment for our club and fans.”
Each player has previous experience playing in the VNL. Samedy has done so twice; Miyabe and Pelland are making their fifth appearance, while Schölzel will represent her country for a seventh time.
The tournament began pool play on June 2, 2026, with the finals on July 26. A full tournament schedule is available on the official VNL website.
All matches in the VNL can be streamed on VBTV.
MLV Minnesota will begin league play in January 2027. To place a season ticket deposit for MLV Minnesota and for more information on the team, please visit MLVMinnesota.com and follow us on X, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
