Tuaniga, Bertolacci Ignite MLV Awards Ceremony

One night before the culmination of the Major League Volleyball season, two individuals from the Indy Ignite walked away with the league’s top awards. Setter Mia Tuaniga was named MLV Most Valuable Player, while her coach Lauren Bertolacci has been honored with the Franklin Sports Coach of the Year Award.

Tuaniga, earned unanimous selection to the All-MLV First Team, as well as Setter of the Year, earlier this week. She was a linchpin in an Ignite offense that led the league in scoring (1,941 points), kills (1,585) and assists (1,476) and set an MLV record with a 40.6 percent team kill percentage. Tuaniga ranked second in assists per set (11.49) and service aces (25) while registering 11 double-doubles.

In her first season with Indy, Bertolacci led the Ignite to their second MLV postseason berth as the squad finished 23-5 – the best record in the league. Her efforts leading the team resulted in Indy establishing a Major League Volleyball record for wins in a season.

The Major League Volleyball Match for a Million takes place on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. Very limited tickets remain, but fans should check Ticketmaster often for any remaining availability.
