Atlanta Vibe Bring Pro Volleyball Excitement to 6,000 Fans in Downtown Atlanta

The Atlanta Vibe took over downtown Atlanta with a pair of thrilling matches on April 2 and April 4, bringing the unique excitement of Major League Volleyball to over 6,000 fans at the Georgia State Convocation Center.

Central among a multitude of 404 Day events celebrating Atlanta as a city and the culture the city is famous for, the Vibe brought out stars, dignitaries and fans from around the country. The crowd was raucous and full of youth volleyball players in Atlanta for the Big South Tournament.

The 404 Night match against the Orlando Valkyries featured Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens delivering the honorary first serve. Special guests including Dr. Bernice A. King attended the match. Plus, Blooper from the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta United FC players including Jayden Hibbert, and Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray, who played for the Atlanta Dream WNBA last season, represented a wide swath of Atlanta professional sports supporting the Vibe roster throughout both matches.

During the weekend, a special ceremony honoring Atlanta Vibe Outside Hitter Leah Edmond was held to commemorate her 1,000 kill milestone earlier in the season. The Vibe were also recognized with an honor from the Fulton County Board of Commissioners proclaiming April 4, 2026 as "Atlanta Vibe Appreciation Day" in Fulton County.

Atlanta Vibe Middle Blocker Phoebe Awoleye, who grew up in Marietta, Georgia, remarked on how special the crowd was and how the Vibe fed off the energy at the Georgia State Convocation Center.

"I had friends in the crowd, like I saw old coaches and my parents were here,” Awoleye said. “Just the energy the entire night, whether we were up or down, was incredible and we’re so grateful.”
