LOS ANGELES – Major League Volleyball has appointed Jaime Weston as its first commissioner, marking a significant step in the league’s growth and the continued rise of professional women’s volleyball in the United States.
Now in its third season, Major League Volleyball has positioned itself as a professional volleyball league in the country. Built on an athlete-first model, the league has expanded with new franchises while increasing fan engagement and commercial partnerships.
Weston brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across professional sports, media and entertainment. She spent more than 15 years in the NFL front office, where she helped drive fan growth, modernize brand strategy and strengthen commercial partnerships across sponsors, media rights holders and clubs. Most recently, Weston served as chief commercial officer at USA Volleyball, leading brand and commercial strategy in advance of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Earlier in her career, she held leadership roles at Universal Music Group and On Location, a former division of Endeavor.
“Seeing Jaime step into the commissioner role underscores the kind of leadership driving Major League Volleyball forward,” said Dan DeVos, a founding member of the league, owner and CEO of the Grand Rapids Rise, and chairman of the Orlando Magic. “She’s a proven sports executive who understands how to build a league, elevate athletes and create sustained momentum. Jaime brings a level of professionalism and vision that sets the tone for where this league and this sport are headed.”
A former player at Georgia Tech, Weston brings firsthand experience and perspective to the role.
“This is volleyball’s time,” Weston said. “In the U.S., the sport is female-led and female-defined, and professional women’s volleyball is not following a blueprint. It’s designing one. Major League Volleyball will build on its foundation and scale this momentum into a league that sets the standard for the future.”
Volleyball participation and visibility continue to grow nationally, with increased attendance, viewership and investment in women’s sports. As commissioner, Weston will oversee league operations, competitive strategy and long-term growth initiatives.
“Major League Volleyball is demonstrating what’s possible when women are steering the sport at every level,” said Theresia Gouw, owner of the league’s Northern California franchise, which is scheduled to launch in 2027. “Jaime’s leadership brings the discipline and vision to turn this wave of energy into lasting change for the game.”
The league also announced that Jen Spicher, who has served as president since its inception, will transition to executive vice president of volleyball operations. She will continue to oversee competitive integrity and player experience as the league enters its next phase of growth.
