Orlando, Fla. – The second annual Major League Volleyball All-Star Match took place Saturday afternoon at Addition Financial Arena, showcasing elite talent from all eight teams across the league. In front of a national audience on CBS and a crowd of 5,380 fans, a complete lower bowl sellout of the Arena. Team Meske, led by Louisville head coach Dan Meske, defeated Team Launiere, coached by retired head coach Beth Launiere, two sets to one.
The Orlando Valkyries were heavily represented, with six of the 27 All-Stars selected for the match; the most of any team in the league. Outside hitter Charitie Luper, libero Teodora Pusic, and middle blocker Bre Kelley competed for Team Meske, while setter Chompoo Guedpard, middle blocker Kaz Brown, and middle blocker Natalie Foster represented Team Launiere.
Luper played a key role in Team Meske’s offensive success, finishing with nine kills on 23 attempts while hitting .304. On the opposing side, Guedpard guided Team Launiere’s offense with 10 assists, adding four digs and a block. Foster delivered one of the most efficient performances of the match, recording five kills on 10 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage, along with an ace.
The match was played in a three-set format to 25 points, with a no win-by-two rule. Team Launiere edged out a tight opening set, 25–24. Team Meske responded with a 25–19 win in the second before closing out the match with a 25–22 victory in the final set.
Currently sitting fourth in MLV standings and with a pivotal month coming up, the Orlando Valkyries return to action Saturday, April 4, when they travel to face the Atlanta Vibe at 6:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
