After leading her team to two victories last week and sole possession of first place, setter Mia Tuaniga has been named the Major League Volleyball Player of the Week presented by Franklin Sports. The Indy wins improved the Ignite to a league-best 5-1 record this season.
A native of Long Beach, Calif., she contributed in all facets of the game, including a total of 77 assists (11.0 per set). Tuaniga also had 14 digs, four service aces, three kills and three blocks over the two matches as the Ignite defeated Atlanta (3-1) and then swept Dallas (3-0) in a battle of what was the top two teams in the MLV standings. It marks the 10th time in league history a setter has earned weekly accolades and the second time an Ignite setter has been recognized.
This season, she is averaging 11.09 assists, which ranks third in average among MLV players. Tuaniga also has 14 kills, 33 digs, seven aces and six blocks during the 2026 campaign.
The Ignite returns to action on Friday, February 6 when they host the Grand Rapids Rise. Fans interested in tickets to the match – or any match in Major League Volleyball – can purchase them via links at the MLV Tickets Central page on the league website.
