FRISCO, Texas – The Dallas PULSE (7-4), North Texas’ women’s professional volleyball team, was edged by the Indy Ignite (9-2) in three sets (20-25, 24-26, 24-26) Thursday night at Comerica Center.
Outside hitter Sofia Maldonado Diaz led all scorers with 18 kills on 35 swings and four digs. Outside hitter Mimi Colyer contributed eight kills and four digs, while pin hitter Kaylee Cox posted seven kills, seven digs, and three blocks. Middle blockers Layne Van Buskirk added five kills, and Kaitlyn Hord finished with four kills and two blocks. Setter Natalia Valentin-Anderson recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 38 assists and 10 digs.
Indy was paced by opposite hitter Leketor Member-Meneh, who tallied 11 kills and five digs. Outside hitter Anna DeBeer added nine kills and five digs, while opposite hitter Camryn Hannah and middle blocker Lydia Martyn each recorded seven kills. Setter Mia Tuangiga totaled 33 assists, nine digs, and three kills.
After dropping the opening set, 25-20, Dallas responded with a strong start in the second frame, building a 7-2 lead. Indy closed the gap, and the teams traded several ties before the Ignite secured the set, 26-24. The PULSE hit .333 in the frame, but Indy’s balanced attack proved decisive late.
The third set followed a similar script, with Dallas jumping ahead early before Indy rallied. The Ignite edged out a tightly contested 26-24 finish to complete the sweep.
The PULSE remain home Sunday, Feb. 22, to face the Grand Rapids Rise at 2 p.m. CT at Comerica Center.
