ATLANTA, Ga. (September 6, 2025) – On August 7th, the Atlanta Vibe signed outside hitter Lexie Almodovar as a free agent. Lexie had an impressive five-year career at the University of Dayton, leaving the program holding the all-time kill record in a career, posting up 2,033 kills in total. She was named the AVCA Midwest Region Player of the Year in 2023 and earned A-10 Player of the Year honors twice during her collegiate run, proving herself as one of the top talents in NCAA volleyball.
Get-To-Know Player Spotlight: Lexie Almodovar
Following her college career, Lexie took her skills overseas, spending a season playing professionally in Turkey with Bahçelievler Belediyespor, gaining international experience and exposure to the global volleyball scene.
Hailing from Noblesville, Indiana, just north of Indianapolis, Lexie brings a rich cultural background to everything she does. Half Puerto Rican, she frequently visits the island, where she enjoys spending time with family and indulging in her favorite dishes. Among those, her grandma’s Hispanic rice and chicken with plantains hold a special place in her heart. She’s also a fan of exploring local shops in search of the perfect crips and savory empanada.
Lexie was born with partial hearing loss in her right ear. Growing up, she had to wear a hearing aid when she was younger. This never stopped her from listening to her favorite music. Lexie’s favorite TV show to binge is New Girl because it always gives her a good laugh. On the flip side, her absolute favorite movie is The Notebook, a little more of an emotional tear-jerker. Her favorite artist is Miley Cyrus, having “Party in the USA” being her serving song for all five years while competing at Dayton.
When she’s not on the court, Lexie channels her passion into the classroom. Working as a substitute teacher for elementary school children, she especially enjoys the opportunity to work with students one-on-one. Seeing each child’s unique progress is what drives her love for teaching.
