After both lower seeds took down the respected favorites, the number three seed Orlando Valkyries will face the number four seed Indy Ignite for a chance to be crowned a champion. Both teams have displayed unbelievable resilience throughout their seasons and all of their hard work will be coming to a clash on Sunday, with the match set to begin at 4:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
Indy and Orlando played four times against one another in the regular season, splitting the season series 2-2, with each team going 1-1 at home and on the road.
Keys to the Match for Orlando:
Bringing the energy on both sides of the net: In Orlando’s win over Atlanta, their energy was contagious throughout, setting the tone early and making it difficult for Atlanta to get going. For Orlando to walk away with a win, they need to continue displaying the energy. Whether on defense, offense or in the serving game, Orlando’s energy needs to continue throughout the entire match.
Valkyries Players to Watch:
Kaz Brown (Middle Blocker) - Setting a career high with seven blocks on Friday, Brown will be tasked to bring the energy against an Ignite offense that got rolling against Omaha. She also had 11 kills, stepping up when the Valkyries needed it the most.
Shannon Scully (Libero) – Scully has done an unbelievable job for the Valkyries ever since she stepped into the libero role. Originally an outside hitter, Shannon recorded six digs Friday night. Look for her to lead the charge in that department as she’ll play a huge role in slowing down a very aggressive Indy offense.
By the numbers: The Valkyries have an 18-4 record when they finish with a .200 hitting efficiency or higher in a single match.
Ignite Players to Watch:
Sydney Hilley (Setter) – The 2025 PVF Setter of the Year, Hilley has been the leader of this Ignite offense that found something against Omaha. She’ll need to continue that against an Orlando team that is currently on a roll.
Lydia Martyn (Middle Blocker) – On Friday night, Martyn had an impressive 14 kills to the tune of a .609 hitting efficiency. Facing Kaz Brown and Natalie Foster, the Ignite will look to get Martyn going early, as she helps open their offense.
By the numbers: Indy has a 6-6 record when they finish with nine or fewer blocks.
