Orlando signs Kira Thomsen to the active roster
ORLANDO, Fla – The Orlando Valkyries have announced the signing of outside hitter Kira Thomsen to the active roster. Thomsen, a 5’10 outside hitter from Parker, Colorado, comes over after two seasons internationally, playing with Orebro VBS (Sweden) and Schwarz-Weiss Erfurt (Germany). She spent her collegiate career at Montana State University.
During her time at Montana State, she earned numerous Big Sky conference awards, including two First Teams, one Second Team, and multiple academic awards.
After graduating in the fall of 2023 from Montana State University, Thomsen made her way over to Sweden, to play for Orebro VBS. She just finished her second professional season with Schwarz-Weiss Erfurt in Germany, and is now making the journey to Orlando to help the Valkyries maintain their success for the remainder of the season.
“We’re thrilled to add Kira and add some depth as we make our late season push,” said Valkyries head coach Amy Pauly. “She’s currently coming off playing a season in Germany, where she competed in a competitive European league, and I can’t wait to see how she fits into our team as a whole.”
To make room on the active roster, the Valkyries have waived outside hitter Adora Anae.
