After defeating the Columbus Fury in four sets on Sunday night, the first-place Valkyries [11-4] will welcome the San Diego Mojo (5-10) to Addition Financial Arena on Thursday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m. ET. This match will be nationally broadcast on ROKU Sports, as the Valkyries will look to push their win streak to 10.
Their last matchup was back on January 16, where the Valkyries won in four sets in San Diego. Adora Anae recorded 27 kills on a .431 hitting percentage, a career night for the talented outside hitter.
Keys to the Match:
In order for San Diego to steal a win on the road this Thursday, they’ll need to replicate the success they had in the second set from the match on the 16th, holding Orlando to a low .209 hitting efficiency. The Mojo lead the league in digs per set (17.60), as their success feeds off how well they operate defensively.
Valkyries Players to Watch:
Natalie Foster (Middle Blocker)- Foster has been sensational this season. In 15 matches, she eclipsed 34 service aces, which broke the PVF single season service ace record at 32, set by Bethania De La Cruz last year. The connection she has with Pornpun Guedpard has allowed her to hit at a .363 efficiency, good for second in the league.
Courtney Schwan (Outside Hitter): Schwan has been phenomenal as a two-way machine for the Valkyries this season. Ranking 10th in the league in digs with 164, Schwan provides consistent offensive and defensive production every night. Schwan has seven straight matches recording at least six kills and five digs.
By the numbers: Orlando is 5-2 on the season when they record more than eight blocks in a match.
Mojo Players to Watch:
Ronika Stone (Middle Blocker)- For the Mojo to slow down the top offense in the league, Stone will have to play a big part up front. With 32 blocks on the year, look for her to provide energy for the team to build off of.
Kendra Dahlke (Outside Hitter)- With 186 kills on the season, Dahlke is the offensive focal point for the Mojo. With 10 matches of 10+ kills, Dahlke has the potential to go off any night, and Orlando must have a plan to slow her down. In her last five matches, Dahlke is averaging 12.2 digs per set.
By the numbers: San Diego is 5-2 on the season when they record more than 70 digs in a match.
