Columbus Fury vs. Indy Ignite Post-Game Quotes
HEAD COACH ÁNGEL PÉREZ
Opening Statement …
“First of all, I want to congratulate the organization for a great spectacle. It's our first time here and your arena was amazing. All the game, all the things around the atmosphere. It's what the girl's need and in the women's sport. So, first of all, congratulations to everybody behind the scenes for a great spectacle. About the game, you know, I think they imposed their will on the block and on attack and they dominated in it and that's the name of the game, you know, the team that that could attack better and control has to advantage to win. I think they beat us 13-3 in blocks and we had about 11 errors in attack, they only had like five. So, when you add it up, that's about 20 point difference and we lost five, five and seven. So that's 17 points. That's where the game went. I thought we were really good in reception which is something that we want to take the positive from. We were really good in reception, we just couldn't convert or transform those points in the back and again credit for them their game plan and their players.
On what happened in the third set …
“I thought they pressured us a little bit with the serve. We made some uncharacteristic mistake on attack and then, you know, I think we got tight. It's no secret that we're on a bad stretch you know and I think with that the team that’s more relaxed and more calm in the mind, usually comes away with the set. I think that's what happened today. They feel comfortable. They clearly play really good at this arena and, you know, they came from a tough defeat on the road and they wanted to bounce back, and that's what great teams do. I think that again they were more jealous. if you could say with the ball, you know, not making stupid mistakes and I think that's what cost us at the end of the first set and also at the end of the second set.”

On getting over the hump …
“I think that's something that we've been working in practice, trying to get over the hump. I mean, it's frustrating. We all want to win just as much as anyone else. It's a team sport, it's not just individually. So, I think we want the first one just as much for the organization, the players, the coaches, and it's step by step. I think we'll get it eventually.”
On seeing former college coaches/teammates …
“I mean, I think coming back to the state of Indiana is always really nice. I had not just Steve, but the entire staff was here. And then, some of the players were here and past coaching staff as well. So, it's always a homecoming in this game and I'm really excited to come back.”
ABBY WALKER, #24, MB
On positives from tonight …
“Yes. Absolutely. I think we had specific things. I think there was positive connections even though our attack was not all the time that we could take away that they just go back and watch the film and picking those things out and then also see what we could work out as well.”
