Looking to avenge their first loss of the season, the Orlando Valkyries [1-1] will take on the San Diego Mojo [1-1] on Thursday, January 16 at 10:05 p.m. ET. The match will take place at Viejas Arena in San Diego, CA, and will be live streamed on YouTube.
This will be the second showdown between the Valkyries and Mojo this season. In their first matchup, Orlando defeated San Diego in their home opener, securing a sweep with set scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-22. Now, the action shifts to San Diego’s home court, where the Mojo will look to replicate the Valkyries’ success and even the season series.
Valkyries Players to Watch:
Adora Anae- In their first meeting this season, Anae led the Valkyries with 14 kills, including a stellar .433 hitting percentage and recorded nine digs, just one shy of a double-double. She’ll aim to build on that strong performance this Thursday.
Kaz Brown – Brown delivered an impressive performance against the Mojo this season, tallying nine kills on 19 attacks, achieving a .421 hitting percentage, along with one block. As the Mojo head into this matchup, riding the momentum of a 3-1 road win over Columbus, Brown will look to play a pivotal role in disrupting their attack.
Mojo Players to Watch
Kendra Dahlke – After limited action against the Valkyries, Dahlke made a strong comeback on January 11 against Columbus, recording a double-double, with 17 kills and 17 digs. A dynamic outside hitter from the University of Arizona, Dahlke provides a jolt of energy for the Mojo, who struggled offensively in Orlando, posting a team hitting percentage of .175.
Ronika Stone – In her first two matches this season, the Preseason All-League honoree has already contributed with nine kills and four blocks. Last season, she led the league in hitting percentage (.336) and ranked ninth in blocks per set (.53), solidifying her presence and earning a spot on the All-League Second Team.
