MATCH FIVE PREVIEW – VALKYRIES VS THRILL

After coming off a tough road loss to the Vegas Thrill in five sets, the Orlando Valkyries [2-2] are set to return home with redemption on their minds. They’ll face off against the Thrill [3-2] again on Sunday, January 26, at 6:00 p.m. ET, aiming to even the season series. The match will take place at Addition Financial Arena and will be nationally broadcast on FS1. This will be the second meeting between the Valkyries and Thrill this season, with Orlando leading the all-time series 3-2.  

Valkyries Players to Watch: 

Kaz Brown – Brown has continued to make a name for herself this season. Providing a lockdown presence up front, Brown recorded five blocks in a four-set match in San Diego, tying Leah Edmond with the most blocks in a four-set match this season. The reigning Pro Volleyball Federation Middle Blocker of the Year has also recorded 32 kills. 

Brittany Abercrombie Abercrombie comes into this matchup on an absolute tear. In back-to-back matches, she has tallied a double-double, as well as recording the most kills in a single five-set match this season and tying the Pro Volleyball Federation five-set record in kills with 30. 

Thrill Players to Watch 

Hannah Maddux – An outside hitter from the University of South Alabama, Maddux put up her best performance of the season against Orlando, on January 19, finishing with 17 kills and eight digs. Maddux is already on track to surpass her previous performance from last year’s inaugural season. This season, she’s averaging 14 kills per match, compared to last year, when she averaged 10.17. 

Alisha Glass Childress – Glass Childress was named week two Pro Volleyball Federation Player of the Week, after impressive showings at home versus Orlando and Omaha, where she compiled 111 total assists, as well as helping her team achieve comeback wins in both matches. This will mark the second time that Glass Childress has won Player of the Week in her career, with her first coming in week eight of last season.
