ATLANTA, Ga. (December 1, 2024) - The Atlanta Vibe, the city's professional volleyball team, begins training camp on Monday, December 2, with 22 athletes competing for 14 roster spots ahead of the second season starting January 10. Head Coach Kayla Banwarth, a 2016 Olympic bronze medalist, enters her first season leading a group of NCAA champions and multi-year AVCA All-Americans, aiming for the Pro Volleyball Federation Championship.
The team will host its first open media viewing period on Monday, December 2, and players and coaches will all be made available upon request.
The Vibe return eight players from the 2024 season, including League MVP and Outside Hitter of the Year Leah Edmond, Libero of the Year Morgan Hentz, All-League Second Team setter Marlie Monserez, and standout middle blocker Shelly Fanning.
Merritt Beason, Khori Louis, Taylor Head, Mia Tuaniga, and Bianca Bertolino, drafted in the 2024 Pro Volleyball Federation Draft, will join training camp after their college seasons. First-round picks were Beason (No. 1, Nebraska) and Louis (No. 6, Florida State).
Madolyn Isringhausen, a standout outside hitter from Tennessee Tech, will join us at training camp. She became the first player in Tennessee Tech history to earn the AVCA/GameChanger National Player of the Week honors.
Georgia Tech standout Bianca Bertolino, a 2023 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, will head into training camp near her college. Georgia native Kacie Evans returns for her second Vibe season after a record-setting career at UGA, where the three-time All-SEC honoree became the Dawgs' all-time leader in sets played (517).
Four PVF players joined the Vibe in free agency: Columbus Fury teammates Jenna Rosenthal and Jenaisya Moore, McKenna Vicini (Las Vegas Thrill), and Nomaris Velez-Agosto (San Diego Mojo).
Aiko Jones, Courtney Buzzerio, Anna Dixon, and Pia Timmer are set to play professional volleyball in the U.S. for the first time. Notably, Buzzerio and Jones led their respective teams, Pitt and Louisville, to the NCAA Final Four.
Team rosters must be trimmed to 14 players, plus two practice players, by Monday, January 8.
