ANNA DEBEER AND ELENA SCOTT ARE JOINING THE IGNITE FAMILY
Indy Ignite Selects Two Louisville Stars as Top Picks in Monday's Pro Volleyball Draft
FISHERS, Nov. 25, 2024—In a last-minute move that gave Indy Ignite two top ten picks in the Pro Volleyball Draft Monday, the team traded their No. 1 overall pick with the Atlanta Vibe for the No. 2 and No. 9 selections. In the first round, Ignite drafted Louisville's outside hitter Anna DeBeer and with the first pick in the second round (the overall No. 9 selection), Ignite chose Louisville’s libero Elena Scott.
As part of the trade, Ignite also gave Atlanta its third round pick in the 2025 draft.
“We’re thrilled about the additions to our roster today. We continue to add hard working, gritty athletes who are going to help develop our team culture and grow our franchise,” said Ignite Head Coach George Padjen. “Adding two stars from Louisville in DeBeer and Scott, who already excel on the floor together, will only add to the team chemistry we’re building.”
DeBeer has recorded nearly 1,400 kills in her career and, this season, has led the Cards to a 25-3 record and top five national ranking. Since 2020, DeBeer's freshman year, the Cards have won three ACC Championships, made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, two Final Fours and played in the National Championship in 2022 for the first time in program history.
In 2021 as a freshman, Scott was named to the AVCA First Team All-East Region and Second Team All-ACC as a freshman. In 2022 and 2023, Scott was named an AVCA All-American.
In addition to DeBeer and Scott, Indy Ignite also drafted the following athletes.
-
CC Crawford, a middle blocker from University of Wisconsin, Pick 8, Round 2
-
Taylor Trammell, a middle blocker from Penn State University, Pick 4, Round 3
-
Nina Cajic, an outside hitter from the University of Tennessee, Pick 4, Round 4
-
Isabel Martin, an outside hitter from University of Florida, Pick 1, Round 5
The Ignite also invited Nnedi Okammor, a middle blocker from SMU, and Lydia Martyn, a middle blocker from University of Oklahoma, to its training camp, which begins Dec. 2.
Opening day for the Indy Ignite will be Jan. 11, 2025 at the Fishers Event Center. For tickets to the Ignite’s 14 home games and more information, visit IndyIgnitevb.com.
