ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Valkyries ended its inaugural season with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-15) sweep of the Vegas Thrill on Saturday night at Addition Financial Arena.
Outside hitter Courtney Schwan led the Valkyries with 13 total points (11 kills, one block and one ace) in the contest. Full statistics for the match can be found here.

Set 1
The Valkyries made a late comeback and took the first set 26-24. Orlando got out to an 8-5 lead and Vegas would tie the set at 10-10. The Thrill took the lead and built a five-point advantage at 17-12. With Vegas leading 23-19, Orlando went on a 5-0 run to take the lead. Valkyries libero Paula Cerame had two aces in a row during the run. To win the set, outside hitter Jill Gillen added another ace. Thrill outside hitter Hannah Maddux led both teams with six kills in the set, but Orlando had two players with four kills apiece.
Set 2
Orlando continued its momentum from the first set and took the second set 25-18. The Valkyries got out to a 13-9 lead and Vegas tied the set at 14-14. The Valkyries regained the lead, scoring three consecutive points. With Orlando leading 19-17, the team went on a 6-1 run to close out the set. Maddux had nine kills in the set and two Valkyries had four kills apiece.
Set 3
Orlando took the third set 25-15 to complete its sweep. The Thrill scored first and then Orlando scored five in a row to take a 5-1 lead. With the Valkyries leading 8-6, the team scored four consecutive points to take a 12-6 lead. Orlando would maintain momentum, ending the set with a 6-0 run. Schwan led both teams with seven kills in the set.
The Valkyries finish the 2024 inaugural season with eight wins and sixteen losses.
