Thrill Down Valkyries In Five-Set Battle

HENDERSON NV, - The Vegas Thrill (8-14) won a thrilling five-set match over the Orlando Valkyries (7-15) on Wednesday night at the Lee’s Family Forum.

Orlando won the first set in a tightly-contested score of 26-24, before Vegas responded with a dominant 25-15 win in the second frame. The Valkyries took a close third set by a score of 25-22. The Thrill then evened the match with a 25-21 victory in the fourth set. In a back-and-forth final frame, Vegas came out on top with a 15-12 victory to secure the match.

Vegas had three players with double-figure kills. Outside hitter Khat Bell and outside hitter Hannah Maddux led the trio each recording 17, while middle blocker Berkeley Oblad collected 14.

Libero Kylie Murr led the backcourt defense with a match-high 18 digs. Bell also recorded in double-figure digs with 11. Setter Alisha Glass Childress, outside hitter Payton Caffrey and Maddux each recorded nine.

Glass Childress recorded a match-high 56 assists. Caffrey led the team in blocks with four, while outside hitter McKenna Vicini followed closely behind with three.

NOTABLE:
-The Dallas, Texas, native Khat Bell recorded her fifth straight double-double with her 17 kills and 11 digs in the five setter.

-Alisha Glass Childress recorded 56 assists, which marks her fifth match of the season with at least 51 assists.

-The South Alabama alum Hannah Maddux collected three service aces, which ties for her season-high.

-The Stanford alum McKenna Vicini recorded seven kills, five digs and three blocks.
