As part of a night celebrating the inaugural season of Pro Volleyball Federation, the League has announced two major award winners. Atlanta Vibe standout Leah Edmond was named the first Most Valuable Player in league history, while Tayibba Haneef-Park has been tabbed as the Franklin Sports Coach of the Year.
Edmond led the Vibe to a first-place finish during the regular season, as her squad topped the league with a 19-5 overall record. She finished the campaign with a league-best 453 points (4.82 per set). She had 394 kills overall (4.19 per set), ranking second in Pro Volleyball Federation. Edmond also recorded 274 digs (2.91 per set) while adding 47 blocks and 12 service aces.
Haneef-Park helped her team reach the postseason in her first year at the helm, as the Mojo finished with a 13-11 regular-season mark. She led her squad to a strong turnaround, after San Diego opened the year with a 1-5 record but then earned victories in 10 of the last 14 matches. Her team also boasted one major award winner and two players on the All-League Teams.
The Pro Volleyball Federation Championship will conclude on Saturday at CHI Health Center in Omaha. Tickets are on sale now and fans can purchase tickets for the championship match that will take place this weekend.
