Thrill Push Past Mojo In Five-Set Thriller

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Three players recorded double-doubles as the Vegas Thrill (7-13) defeated the San Diego Mojo (8-10) in a five-set thriller on Friday night at Viejas Arena.

Vegas dominated the regular season series against San Diego, winning three out of four matches.


Vegas was firing on all cylinders in the first set with a 25-21 victory, before San Diego responded with a close 25-22 win in the second set. The Thrill dominated the third set with a 25-17 victory.

The Mojo then evened the match with a tightly-contested 25-22 win to force a fifth-set. In an intense final frame, Vegas won the match in a close 15-13 victory.


Outside hitter Khat Bell recorded her fourth straight double-double with 19 kills and 14 digs. Newly acquired outside hitter Payton Caffrey made her presence known on the court, recording her first double-double of the season with 14 kills and 13 digs. Setter Alisha Glass Childress also collected a double-double with 45 assists and 18 digs.


Middle blocker Berkeley Oblad and middle blocker Layne Van Buskirk also recorded double-figure kills. Oblad collected 12 kills, three digs and three blocks, while Van Buskirk gathered 10 kills, three blocks and two service aces. Liberio Kylie Murr led the backcourt defense with a match-high 25 digs and gathered six assists.
