ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Valkyries secured a 3-2 (19-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12) road victory Monday night against the San Diego Mojo at Viejas Arena.
Outside hitter Adora Anae led the Valkyries with 24 total points (23 kills and one block) in the contest. Full statistics for the match can be found here.

Set 1
San Diego pulled away and took the first set 25-19. The two teams traded points to start the set. However, with the Mojo leading by one at 11-10, they proceeded to go on a 4-1 run to bring the score to 15-11. The Valkyries responded with two straight points, but the Mojo would score three straight points to bring the score to 18-13. The Valkyries were not able to slow down the Mojo.
Set 2
The Valkyries gained a big lead and held off the Mojo, taking the second set 25-20. With the score tied at 8-8, Orlando scored three straight points and went on a 5-1 run. And then the Valkyries pushed its lead to eight. With Orlando leading 19-11, the Mojo would surge back and cut the lead to four at 22-18. However, the Valkyries gained enough cushion and finished the set strong. Anae led Orlando with six kills in the set.
Set 3
The Mojo took a tightly contested set three 25-23, despite trailing for most of the set. With the score tied at 7-7, the Valkyries scored four straight points to bring the score to 11-7. The Mojo would tie the set at 18-18. Orlando responded with three straight points to bring the score to 21-18. However, San Diego would tie the set again at 22-22 and then take the lead at 23-22. It took some late set heroics, but the Mojo pulled it off. Anae led both teams with five kills in the set.
Set 4
Orlando never trailed and took the fourth set 25-21. The Valkyries jumped out to an early 6-2 lead and maintained momentum throughout the set, leading by as much as five. Outside hitter Jill Gillen and Anae both had five kills in the set for Orlando. The Mojo’s Ronika Stone led both teams with six kills.
Set 5
The Valkyries finished strong and took the fifth set 15-12. The two teams traded points to start the set and then Orlando went on a run. With the scored tied at 7-7, the Valkyries scored five straight points to lead 12-7. Orlando held off the Mojo to seal the win. Opposite hitter Shainah Joseph had the final two kills. She led both teams in the set with five kills and had a season-high 13 kills for the match.
The Valkyries (5-6) are back in action on Saturday, March 16, against the Omaha Supernovas at 10 p.m. at Omaha’s CHI Health Center. The next Valkyries home match on Thursday, April 11, against the Grand Rapids Rise gametime has changed from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Addition Financial Arena.
