Thrill Swept At Home By The Vibe
The Vegas Thrill (3-6) fell in a three-set sweep (16-25, 18-25, 24-26) to the Atlanta Vibe (6-3) on Monday night inside the Dollar Loan Center Arena.
Atlanta took the first set with a 25-16 victory, then followed with a 25-18 win in second to take the 2-0 match lead. The Vibe closed out the match with a 26-24 win in the final frame.
Outside hitter Gabby Gonzales led the offensive attack for Vegas, finishing with a match-high 15 kills. Outside hitter Khat Bell followed with eight kills of her own, while Paulina Prieto-Cerame and Berkeley Oblad each recorded four on the night.
Alisha Glass Childress dished out 30 assists in the three-setter, while libero Kylie Murr added three.
Murr led the backcourt defense with a match-high 14 digs, while Childress pitched in nine digs of her own. Bell recorded seven digs on the night.
Atlanta was paced by outside hitter Leah Edmond’s 14 kills, seven digs and one block. Opposite hitter Anna Lazareva recorded 12 kills and nine digs. Middle blocker Magdalena Jehlářová had 10 kills, a match-high four blocks and three digs. Libero Morgan Hentz led the Vibe in digs with 12, while setter Tori Stringer had a match-high 36 assists.
