Thrill Overcomes Early Deficit In 3-1 Win Against Fury

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Despite losing the first set, the Vegas Thrill (4-7) won the final three sets to claim a 3-1 victory (21-25, 28-26, 25-17, 25-16) against the Columbus Fury (4-4) Monday night at Nationwide Arena. This was the third all-time meeting between the Thrill and Fury, with Vegas winning for the first time in the all-time series.


After a hard-fought first set, Vegas fell 25-21, but bounced back after winning a tightly-contested second set 28-26. The Thrill followed with a dominant 25-17 win in the third frame, then clinched the match with a 25-16 victory in the final frame.


Vegas had three players with at least 11 kills. Outside hitter Hannah Maddux recorded a match-high 14 kills, while middle blocker Berkeley Oblad collected 13 and outside hitter Khat Bell had 11.


Setter Alisha Glass Childress dished out a match-high 51 assists, marking her third match this season with 51 assists or more.


The Thrill had five players with at least 10 digs. Bell led the group with 18, while libero Kylie Murr finished with 15, Maddux collected 14, outside hitter Gabby Gonzales tallied 12 and Childress recorded 10.


Vegas had a combined 11 blocks on the night, including Bell’s season-high four.
Columbus was paced by outside hitter Reagan Cooper’s 14 kills, while outside hitter Megan Courtney Lush and middle blocker Rainelle Jones each recorded nine.


Fury setter Raymariely Santos had a team-high 24 assists and setter Gabby Blossom had 13.

Leading Columbus’ three players with double figures in digs was Libero Valeria Leon with 14. Opposite hitter Ashley Wenz and Lush each followed with 11.
