Thrill Drop Four-Setter To Atlanta Vibe

Gwinnett County, Georgia,. - The Vegas Thrill (3-7) suffered a hard fought 3-1 loss (16-25, 25-22, 23-25, 20-25) to the Atlanta Vibe (7-3) on Saturday night at Gas South Arena.


Atlanta started the match with a dominant 25-16 victory in the first set, before Vegas answered with a 25-22 victory in the second frame. Atlanta took command, winning the third set in a tight 25-23 win, then closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the final frame.


Vegas was led offensively by outside hitter Khat Bell’s 11 kills, while outside hitter Kenna Sauer recorded a season-high 10 and outside hitter Gabby Gonzales had seven.


Libero Kylie Murr paced the backcourt defense with a match-high 15 digs, while Sauer added a season-high 10 of her own. Gonzales had nine and setter Alisha Glass Childress had eight.


On the night, the Thrill had a total of 15 blocks. Middle blocker Layne Van Buskirk recorded a team-high four, while Bell, Childress and Sauer all had three.


Sauer recorded her first double-double of the season, finishing the match with 10 kills and 10 digs.


Childress had a match-high 30 assists. Continuing her streak with at least 30 assists in every match played this season.


Atlanta was paced by outside hitter Leah Edmond’s match-high 15 kills, while middle blocker Shelly Fanning had 13 and opposite hitter Anna Lazareva had 12.


The Vibe had four players with at least 12 digs, the leader in this category was Lazareva with 15. Outside hitter Leketor Member-Meneh, libero Morgan Hentz and setter Tori Stringer all had 12. Setter Marlie Monserez collected 26 assists and Stringer had 22.
