Omaha enters Saturday's match tied for first place in the Pro Volleyball Federation alongside Atlanta, with both teams sitting at 6-3. Orlando is fourth in the league standings, one of four teams to have a record below .500.
This will mark the third matchup between the two franchises. The Supernovas came out with a 3-1 victory when the two teams faced off for the first time in Omaha on Feb. 18. The Supernovas had one of their best offensive performances of the season, hitting .299 with only 11 errors on 137 swings. Team captain Brooke Nuneviller and Bethania de la Cruz combined for 27 of the team's 52 kills, with Nuneviller recording a team-high 14 kills along with 14 digs for a double-double.
Omaha and Orlando followed up with another matchup one week later, but it was the same result as the Supernovas came out on top 3-1 behind 15 kills from Nuneviller and 10 from rookie opposite Maggie Cartwright, who shined in her professional volleyball debut. Setter Natalia Valentin-Anderson also had a standout match, dishing out 47 assists with a team-high 17 digs.
Following the match with Orlando, the Supernovas return to Omaha for a four-match homestand beginning with hosting the Atlanta Vibe on Thursday, March 14, at 7 p.m. CST. Tickets for that match and the rest of the Supernovas’ home schedule can be found here.
The Supernovas are one of seven U.S. teams for the 2024 Pro Volleyball Federation inaugural season: Omaha Supernovas, Atlanta Vibe, Columbus Fury, Grand Rapids Rise, Orlando Valkyries, San Diego Mojo and Vegas Thrill. Three expansion teams, Dallas Pro Volleyball, Indianapolis Ignite and Kansas City Pro Volleyball, have been announced for 2025. The Supernovas will have 12 home and 12 away matches as part of a 24-match schedule across a 16-week regular season.
When the regular season concludes, the Supernovas are aiming to be one of the top four teams in the standings that will compete for the Pro Volleyball Federation National Championship in May. The location of the championship will be determined and announced later this season.
