MATCH TWELVE PREVIEW – VALKYRIES AT SUPERNOVAS

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Valkyries will face the Omaha Supernovas on Saturday, March 16 at 7 p.m. The match will take place at CHI Health Center and will be streamed on YouTube.

This will be the fourth and final meeting between Orlando (5-6) and Omaha (7-4) in the regular season. The Supernovas have won the first three meetings. The matches have been tightly contested with the last one going to five sets.

Valkyries Players to Watch:

Adora Anae led the Valkyries in points (24) and kills (23) in the team’s last match against the San Diego Mojo. In 10 matches this season, Anae is averaging 20.9 points and 18.2 kills. The outside hitter is the first Orlando player to clinch the Pro Volleyball Federation's Player of the Week title, winning the honor in week 3 of the 2024 season. She is a sixth-year pro, with experiences from various countries, including South Korea, Turkey, Puerto Rico, Ukraine and Greece. Prior to her professional career, Anae excelled at the University of Utah, where she earned recognition as the first-ever player named to the 1st-Team Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. She holds the record for the school's all-time single season kills (501) and was the first player in program history to achieve consecutive AVCA All-American honors, as well as being named to the All-AVCA First Team.

Kaz Brown had a season-high 14 kills against the Mojo. In 11 matches this season, she is averaging 13.1 points, 9.3 kills and 3.3 blocks. The 6-foot-4 middle blocker has five years of professional volleyball experience, which included stops in Germany, France, Ukraine and Greece. Brown attended the University of Kentucky, where she was a standout player and earned three-time All-SEC and three-time AVCA All-Region honors. She ended her collegiate career as the Wildcats’ career record holder for total blocks, solo blocks, and block assists. Because of her standout play, Brown was selected to the US Collegiate National Team in 2016-17.

Supernovas Players to Watch:

Brooke Nuneviller won the Pro Volleyball Federation Player of the Week for her performance in the Supernovas last match against the Valkyries. The outside hitter had 22 points (20 kills, an ace and a block) and 18 digs. Nuneviller most recently recorded 11 points (nine kills, a block and an ace) in a 1-3 (20-25, 25-15, 21-25, 12-25) loss to the Atlanta Vibe. In 10 matches this season, she has 136 kills. Nuneviller, a member of the 2023 USA national team, is in her second professional season after playing in Turkey in 2022-23. Nuneviller is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where she was a three time All-American and four-time All-Pac 12 selection. She is the only player in Pac-12 history to record 1,500+ kills and 2,000+ digs in a career.

Hristina Vuchkova recorded 14 points (nine kills and five blocks) in the last meeting between the Valkyries and Supernovas. The middle blocker has had three straight matches with five blocks. Against the Vibe, she recorded 10 points (five kills and five blocks). Vuchkova has 16 years of professional volleyball experience. She’s competed in Italy, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Turkey and China. Vuchkova was named Best Blocker at the European Championships in 2021.
