ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Valkyries will host the Omaha Supernovas on Saturday, March 9 at 7 p.m. The match will take place at Addition Financial Arena and will be streamed on YouTube. Tickets for the match are still available and fans can visit the Orlando Valkyries website for additional information.
This is the third meeting between Orlando (4-5) and Omaha (6-3) this season. The Valkyries have lost both matchups thus far and find themselves as underdogs. The Supernovas are currently tied with the Atlanta Vibe for the No. 1 seed in the Pro Volleyball Federation.
Valkyries Players to Watch:
Adora Anae is coming off a monster match against the Columbus Fury. She recorded 27 total points (22 kills, three blocks and two aces) against the Fury. The outside hitter leads the Valkyries in points (21.1) and kills (18.1) per match. Anae is the first Orlando player to clinch the Pro Volleyball Federation's Player of the Week title, winning the honor in week 3 of the 2024 season. She is a sixth-year pro, with experiences from various countries, including South Korea, Turkey, Puerto Rico, Ukraine and Greece. Prior to her professional career, Anae excelled at the University of Utah, where she earned recognition as the first-ever player named to the 1st-Team Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. She holds the record for the school's all-time single season kills (501) and was the first player in program history to achieve consecutive AVCA All-American honors, as well as being named to the All-AVCA First Team.
M'Kaela White was second on the Valkyries in points (16) and kills (12) against the Fury. She had an efficient hitting percentage of 42 percent. White is a 6-foot-4 middle blocker with three years of professional experience. She attended James Madison University, where she was a Colonial Athletic Conference Champion in 2016 and 2017. White was AVCA Honorable Mention All-American in 2018 and CAA First Team in 2018 and 2019.
Supernovas Players to Watch:
Brooke Nuneviller is an outside hitter for the Supernovas and most recently recorded 13 points (11 kills and two aces) in a 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-22) sweep of the Atlanta Vibe. In eight matches this season, she has 107 kills. Nuneviller, a member of the 2023 USA National Team, is in her second professional season after playing in Turkey in 2022-23. Nuneviller is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where she was a three time All-American and four-time All-Pac 12 selection. Nuneviller is the only player in Pac-12 history to record 1,500+ kills and 2,000+ digs in a career.
Bethania De La Cruz recorded 10 points (nine kills and one ace) against the Vibe. De La Cruz has 20 aces this season. She recorded six aces in two matches earlier this year against the Vegas Thrill and Grand Rapids Rise. De La Cruz, an outside hitter, is a wily veteran with stints in nine countries spanning over 13 years. She is a two-time Olympian for the Dominican Republic and has many accolades. Most recently, she was named MVP, Best Server and Outside Hitter at the NORCECA Olympic Qualification in 2021.
The two teams will face off one more time in the 2024 season.
