NBA Veteran Paul Millsap Makes Commitment to Atlanta Vibe, Joins as Investor in Inaugural Season
ATLANTA, Ga. (January 31, 2024) – The Atlanta Vibe, the city’s newest professional sports team, announced today that four-time NBA All-Star Paul Millsap has joined the team as an investor. Millsap joins the group comprised of Colleen Craig, Sinjin Smith and Edwin Moses as the Vibe continues the beginning of their inaugural season.
"I've been closely observing the recent surge in women's sports, and joining the exciting initiative that the Vibe is cultivating here in Atlanta felt like the natural progression in my career," said Millsap. "Being a father of girls, it holds great significance for me to ensure that they recognize the plethora of opportunities we are shaping for them in athletics. Having navigated the challenges myself as a retired professional athlete, I truly understand the dedication and effort required for these players to achieve success."
Millsap spent 16 years in the NBA, entering the height of his career when he came to Atlanta. He earned all four of his All-Star nods in his time with the Hawks, where he led the Hawks to their best record in nearly 10 years in the 2014-15 season and an Eastern Conference Finals appearance.
Following the conclusion of his playing career, Millsap triumphantly returned to Atlanta and assumed leadership at CORE4 Athletic Complex, a state-of-the-art training facility located in Chamblee, Ga. Owned by Millsap. CORE4 has provided the Vibe with a professional weight training gym to help them prepare for this Pro Volleyball Federation season.
“Having someone like Paul Millsap on our team shows the importance and the prominence of this team and of this league,” said Vibe team owner Colleen Craig. “We need people like him to lean in and help us build the platform that our athletes deserve to stand on to showcase their talent to the world. As a former pro athlete, a father and a businessman dedicated to Atlanta, Paul makes a great addition to our group.”
The Vibe open their 2024 home slate tomorrow, February 1, hosting the San Diego Mojo at 7:00 p.m. ET at Gas South Arena. Atlanta is 2-0 so far in the Pro Volleyball Federation’s inaugural season, having won the first match in league history at Omaha in front of over 11,000 fans.
