Anae To Be Designated As One Of Two Franchise Players For The Team
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Valkyries announce the signing of American volleyball player Adora Anae to their roster for the upcoming inaugural season of the Pro Volleyball Federation.
Anae played collegiately at the University of Utah, making history in their volleyball program. In her freshman year, she was Utah’s first-ever player named to the 1st-Team Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. Her sophomore year saw her receiving 1st-Team All-Pac-12 honors and setting a record as Utah’s all-time single-season kills leader with 501 kills. In the following seasons, she earned a place on the 2nd-Team AVCA All-America Team and the 1st-Team AVCA All-Pacific South Region Team. She became the first Utah player to register multiple 500-kill seasons, finishing with a school-record 592 kills.
In her senior year, Anae accomplished significant achievements, including becoming Utah’s all-time leader with 1,920 career kills. She maintained her place on the 1st-Team AVCA All-America Team for the second consecutive year and secured spots on the 1st-Team AVCA All-Pacific South Region Team and 1st-Team All-Pac-12. After her collegiate career, Anae represented the United States on the women’s national volleyball team, competing at the 2018 Pan American Volleyball Cup.
Transitioning to the professional stage, Anae signed her first contract for the 2018–19 and 2019-20 seasons with the IBK Altos in the South Korean V-League. Her global journey continued with stints in Turkey, Puerto Rico, and Ukraine. Notably, she played a crucial role with Panathinaikos in Greece during the 2022-23 season, contributing significantly to securing the championship.
“Adora is an elite addition to our roster and our league,” said Valkyries’ Head Coach Amy Pauly. “She is an all-around player who can anchor our outside position. On top of her playing experience, she also brings with her a loyal fan base that is going to be a huge support to our organization. Our league is lucky to have Adora playing in the inaugural season.”
On signing to play for the Orlando-based professional volleyball team, Anae shared, “This is something monumental for the sport of volleyball. I feel that it will be something special that will put us on the map and show the rest of the world that we can compete at a high level with our talents here in the States. It will create more opportunities for the next generations to come. Personally, I am grateful that I even get to be here still playing and being a part of something bigger than myself. It’s all just surreal to me, it’s finally here and it’s time.”
The Orlando Valkyries eagerly anticipate Adora Anae’s talent and contributions to the team in their upcoming Pro Volleyball Federation season, which begins on Friday, January 26 at 7 p.m. at Addition Financial Arena.
