How many teams will compete in the 2027 MLV season?

There will be 12 teams competing in the 2027 Major League Volleyball Season:

How many players can teams carry on their active roster?

Teams may carry between 12 and 16 players on their active roster. There is no requirement to roster any NCAA drafted players.

What is the schedule and format for the 2027 MLV season?

The 2027 season will begin in January and will end with the MLV Championship in May. The number of matches for the 2027 season will be announced at a later date.

How many foreign players are allowed on the roster?

Each team is allowed to have up to four foreign players, an increase from three in 2026. Players from Puerto Rico do not count towards that limit.

Are teams subject to a salary cap?

Yes. All teams operate under a salary cap and are required to be cap compliant by the active roster deadline, set for two days before their first match of the 2027 season.

What are the typical contract lengths?

MLV teams may offer players contracts ranging from one to two years in length.

If a player signs during the summer, does that automatically mean they’ll be on the roster for the 2027 season?

No. Every contract is subject to the player making the active roster out of training camp, including drafted college athletes.
